New Year Party with a Tartan Theme

The Line Family invited the members of PA15 to a delightful supper prepared by head chef Steve.

On arrival we were greeted with a glass of champagne. An inspection followed to make sure an appropriate amount of tartan was being worn by all the attendees. In particular Steve Richardson looking very chic in a kilt.

The meal separated a selection of games, the teams being split in to male and female. At the end with the scores level pegging the male team won answering the tie break question.

Many thanks to Dorothy, Steve, Keila and Andrew for inviting us to their house and providing us with a very enjoyable evening.

A further thanks to Steve Line who doubled up as Traffic Safety Officer safely directing us all out on to the main road on a very cold winters evening in his kilt.

Valentines Day Supper with a Red theme

So more eating and thought provoking tasks. Not a kilt in sight but a lot of red.

Our hosts on this occasion were Jenny and Steve Richardson.  Jenny and her team prepared a delicious main course, with a fine selection of deserts provided by various people.

For our amusement a selection of cryptic clues had to be deciphered, but thankfully it was not essential to have the correct answers before we got fed.

Following the meal a game of guess who was played. Each person providing three items that represented themselves.

As mentioned above a lot of red was worn and a prize given to the person with the most.  Michael Leonard romped away being covered from top to toe.

 Easter Egg Quiz

This took place after the service on Easter Sunday.  As well as our own youngsters we had invited children from Cedar Rd and Boothville primary schools. Around 20 children took part, in some cases ably supported by parents and grandparents.  A fun and chocolately time was had by all as they won an Easter egg by finding the answers to a quiz that told the Easter story from Palm Sunday to the Resurrection.  Thanks to all who donated eggs, with those not used as prizes being shared between Northampton Night Shelter (where they were exceptionally well received) and Nene Valley Christian Family Refuge.  In addition an individual Christian from another part of the country linked to our Church and PA15 donated £28 to Christian Aid as an Easter gift.

 Spring Walk

Around 20 of us met up for our first walk of the year, including the youngest PA15’er so far, Adam Johnson who at 5 weeks did really well to complete the route (with a bit of help from dad!). The weather was kind to us, as we could see the rain clouds massing but they never actually got to us. We also did our bit for those who enjoy walking in Northamptonshire, as we were surveyed twice on route by the county council, and must have at least trebled the normal numbers walking between Kislingbury and Upton on a Saturday morning. After the walk we enjoyed a well deserved pub lunch at the Cromwell Cottage. All in all a good start to our outdoor summer season ! Join us for more fun and fellowship as we cycle at Pitsford and walk in Derbyshire in the next couple of months.

 Derbyshire Walk

We met at Ambergate Railway Station and from there proceeded along the Cromford Canal. Nice and level we all thought but it was not going to last long. 1 and 1/2 miles later we turned off the canal and Malcom said "Up". So we climbed up various paths, steps and fields - where a large herd of cows came and took a great deal of interest in us.

The end result of all the up was to reach the town of Crich where we had a well earned rest and lunch at The Cliff Inn pub.

Thinking it was safe to venture onwards again Malcom said "more up", we walked past the Crich tramway museum and continued on to the War memorial Tower in honour of the Sherwood Regiment. Needless to say as it was up we went up. The view was very good.

At long last down was the order of the day and after a false start for some ice cream we headed back towards Ambergate. Serenaded by brass bands on the way the walk was approximately seven miles. The weather remained excellent all day
