 JANUARY - MARCH 2009

Our first event of the New Year found us down the alley, Bowling at Sixfields.  There was a large turn out on a miserable January evening, and it was good to welcome some new faces to PA15, even though they proved to be better at knocking down the tenpins than some of the old hands. By all accounts the pizza supper afterwards was also blighted by slow service, but overall it was very good evening.

Then came the big freeze!  The ice and snow left us with a cliff-hanger decision as to whether the weather would stop the perennial favourite Quiz Evening from going ahead. In the end, with the roads clearing and the pavements not quite frozen we went for it, and despite the cold, over 20 people turned out, with 5 teams fighting it out for the glory of being PA15 Quiz Champions 2009.

After a tense battle, and strategic playing of the Joker, the Stray Cats (don’t ask!) triumphed, much to their surprise.  Once again it was good to welcome more new faces to PA15,  and we hope all enjoyed the evening, however well or not you did on such diverse topics as Best of British, Kiddies Korner, Valentines Day, Bible Knowledge and the Picture Quiz on TV Quizzes.  Thanks to the Hoggarth family for organising this.

The highlight of our recent programme has undoubtedly been the amazing pudding evening in March, hosted in the church hall by the Turner family, ably (and chocolately) assisted by the eccentric waiter who seemed to be a cross between Manuel and Basil Fawlty.

He bore a passing resemblance to our very own Graham Kinnersly, except that he of course would never be so rude to customers!

The eleven puddings on the menu provided a challenge not for the faint hearted, but some of us managed to eat our way through the card, and sampled them all. The traditional favourite, sponge pudding and custard, was voted to be the number one pud of the evening!
